Women Executives in Media 3rd meeting

The 3rd annual Women Executives in Media (WEM) meeting will be held in London at the kind invitation of the BBC. It will be co-hosted by Helen Boaden, Director of Radio, BBC and Anne Morrison, Chair of BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts).

We are proud to present Cressida Rose Dick, our keynote speaker who is Director General at the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Who it's for

This networking event is geared towards women executives, in particular:

  • CEOs, directors general and directors
  • Members of managing and executing boards

Created in 2013 by the EBU, the WEM group offers a dynamic and lively forum for women media executives to network, share professional experiences, and work towards achieving greater influence in their sector. Find out more about our Women Executives in Media Group.

A word from this year's hosts

“I’m delighted to be co-hosting the Women Executives in Media meeting in 2016 (WEM 2016) at the BBC to discuss and share experiences of how best to encourage more women – on and off air – to survive and thrive in an increasingly challenging environment for public service broadcasters. There’s been a lot of progress in many parts of Europe but there’s still more to be done. This will be a chance for us to learn from each other about how we can best encourage and open up more opportunities for women across the industry.”  - Helen Boaden, BBC Director of Radio.

“I’m excited to be co-hosting WEM 2016. Women have made great strides within media organizations over the last few years but there is much further to go before we achieve equality. An organization like WEM allows women who have achieved senior positions in media organizations in different countries to share their experience and learn from each other, with the aim of achieving greater influence. We’ll be turning our minds to the important issue of how in organizations like BAFTA and the BBC we can bring the most talented people into our industry, regardless of their background and ensure that women are fairly represented on and off air.” - Anne Morrison, Chair of BAFTA (Former Director of BBC Academy).
