The Eurovision Song Contest Final takes place in Malmo, Sweden tonight, and the stage is set for an unforgettable spectacle that will captivate audiences worldwide.

This year marks the seventh occasion that this Nordic nation will host the continent's most celebrated musical showdown. From the stunning streets of Stockholm to the vibrant city of Gothenburg, to the charming landscapes of Malmö, Sweden has been a beacon of Eurovision magic throughout the years.

Behind the scenes, a symphony of technology and talent will converge to bring the Eurovision experience to life. With 26 cameras strategically positioned to capture every moment, including aerial views from innovative 2D and Drop camera systems, television viewers can expect nothing short of brilliance.

The meticulous planning also extends to communication, where over 400 radios and 200 intercom panels will ensure seamless coordination, and more than 60 radio channels - both analogue and digital - will be utilized.

Rigging also plays a crucial role, with 196 variable speed hoists used to position and move the lighting and LED elements in the design. A staggering 204 tons of technical gear will be suspended from the arena ceiling, supported by 3.5 km of truss.

When it comes to lighting, the numbers are equally impressive, with over 2000 fixtures - each with LED or laser sources - illuminating the stage. It takes four weeks of pre-programming to ensure every light shines in perfect harmony, creating a captivating visual experience for venue audiences and broadcast viewers alike.

Video content excellence is also crucial, with approximately 1000 square meters of LED screens enveloping the set, from the stage floor to LED video cubes.

Sound is another integral component, with 68 speakers, 56 microphones, and 9 sound desks ensuring clear audio for both performers and audiences. Three different sound mixes are managed, including in-ear monitors for artists, PA for the on-site audience, and the broadcast mix for TV viewers worldwide.

But it's not just the technology that makes Eurovision a masterpiece. Behind the scenes, a dedicated stage management team works tirelessly to ensure that every prop is perfectly positioned. With just 55 seconds to move each item into place while simultaneously rolling another off the stage, the choreographed precision is vital and seamless.
