In 2013, the Greek government announced the sudden closure of ERT, the Greek founding member of the EBU in 1950. Ten years later, the EU issued the Media Freedom Act, which aims to underpin the independence and importance of public service media in the EU.

To mark these events in particular, the EBU Legal & Policy Assembly will take place this Spring at the Giannoulis Cavo Spada Resort located in Kolimvari, Chania (Crete - Greece).

If you plan to attend the event, please ensure to register (Registration deadline: 12 April 2024)

The Legal & Policy Assembly is an opportunity to catch up on the latest EU and national legal developments affecting broadcasting, including expert panels on media freedom and pluralism with Professor David Kaye, former UN Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression and an in-depth discussion on the regulation of AI.

Please note that agenda, working documents and presentations on all topics will be made available in due course during the coming weeks to Members on this dedicated event page (Available for EBU Members only).

Interpretation in session will be provided in English and in French.
