Public Service Media as an Antidote to Polarization

Severe polarization is often linked to declines in democracy, and that’s why Public Service Media (PSM) are committed to understanding and addressing this phenomenon.

Our research shows that Public Service Media play a crucial role in countering polarization. European data indicates that the entire market is better equipped to combat polarization in countries with robust PSM. By providing unbiased news, diverse perspectives, local insights, media literacy, and fact-checking tools, PSM are actively working to depolarize societies and ensure political and democratic stability.
