Music Panel: Addressing the gender gap in music radio

Public service, radio and music go hand in hand. This special relationship is evident today through some of the diverse and inclusive music programming being broadcast by public service media. However, there is always room for improvement. Gender disparity on-air needs to be addressed. Indeed, women artists and musicians are under-represented on most radio stations.

This online panel echoes the 2021 International Women’s Day’s theme #choosetochallenge. How are public service radio and music working towards gender equality? How are they celebrating the work of creative women and engaging with audiences on this topic? The panel discusses sustainable initiatives and policies.
