EBU Media Lunchtime Talks: Public service media and the European Elections

A short presentation and discussion on how public broadcasters are engaging audiences with their election coverage

The European Broadcasting Union invites you to its Brussels Office on 1 April 2014 (12:30 to 14:00, over sandwich buffet) for an overview of how PSM in Europe are informing citizens about the implications of the elections, how they will work and what is at stake in an effort to increase participation in the elections.

Informing the public of political issues to encourage participation in the democratic debate is part of the DNA of European public service media (PSM). In 2014, PSM in the EU Member States will provide many programmes to raise awareness of the importance of the coming EU elections and how they will affect EU citizens’ lives.

Speakers from Radio Romania, Belgian public broadcaster VRT, RAI in Italy and the European Radio Network (Euranet) will present their individual strategies to spread the word and get their audiences engaged in the EU elections.
