Formats Forum 2024
18 - 19 Sep 2024
The 2024 Formats Forum took place in Oslo, Norway, on 18 and 19 September at the kind invitation of NRK.
Congratulations to the three best PSM formats of 2024:
- Best Format 2024: Love on Trial (DR)
- Format that Best Reflects PSM Values: The Bookmarker Club (VPRO)
- Favourite Paper Format: Sisterhood (WDR)
This event aims to recognize and showcase the most innovative and engaging TV or digital formats developed and produced by EBU Members and Associates in the last twelve months and to foster collaboration between public-service broadcasters in the development and production of unscripted content.
We're excited to announce that Linda Green, Director at Leading Creative Talent and former Head of Creative Leadership, will kick off the event with a keynote on 'The 3 C’s for a winning format': competition, change, and choice. Her expert insights on what makes a great format will set the tone for an event filled with learning, inspiration, and networking.
This year’s edition will be divided into 3 sessions each focusing on a common theme: politics and society, challenges and competition, love and dating. Each session will feature a showcase of formats from EBU Members, followed by a strategic round-table discussion on challenges and learnings, aiming to find practical solutions to these common challenges.
Additionally, we will also have sessions on paper formats and development formats, dedicated to promising formats that have the potential to become successful formats in the future. Co-development or co-production opportunities may be offered to other EBU members.
EBU Members will also be given the opportunity to submit marks of interest in further collaboration on all formats presented, and as usual, we will recognize the top formats presented during the event and voted for by the participants.
The event will take place in person and open to EBU Members only. There is no fee to join the event. Attendance is limited to 60 EBU Members, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
