Privacy Notice for Surveys

By answering the EBU survey, you acknowledge that your personal data will be collected and processed by the European Broadcasting Union, an association duly established under Swiss law, located at L'Ancienne-Route 17A, 1218 Grand-Saconnex (Geneva), Switzerland; registered with the Commercial Registry in Geneva under number IDE CHE 107.741.078 (hereafter the "EBU", “us”, “we” or “our”).

We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. We will not process your personal data for any other purposes that the ones set below.

What categories of personal data are being processed?

EBU is carrying a survey to better understand Members’ needs, measure Members’ satisfaction and identify areas for improvement. EBU will process personal data to contact you and invite you to take part in the survey. EBU will also process data related to your answers when you complete the survey such as:

  • your organisation (country and name)
  • your role
  • your name
  • your email addresses
  • your phone number

What are the purposes of the processing and what is the legal basis?

EBU relies on its legitimate interests to contact you and invite you to participate in the survey.

Your participation is voluntary, by taking part in the survey you consent that we process your personal data. You are free to withdraw your consent at any time, either by not completing this survey or later by contacting us as described under: “What are your rights?”. Your decision to participate will not affect your relationship with the EBU in any way. The data and information you will provide through the survey will be treated as confidential and will only be used for research and/or statistical purposes.

How long will EBU keep the information you provide?

We will process your personal data only as long as necessary for the fulfilment of the purposes described above. At the end of the project, we will securely delete all your personal data, leaving only anonymous data.

Who will have access to your personal data?

Access to your information will be limited to only authorized EBU staff involved in the conduct of this survey, or who need access to support the systems used for this survey, such as the survey and research data analysis systems.

Subcontractors. We may share relevant personal data with subcontractors assisting us in the organisation of the survey when online, including the online platform(s) on which you answer. Such third parties may also collect and process personal data for their own purposes as the case may be, under their own terms and conditions and privacy policy, for which we are not responsible.

What are your rights?

You have the right to access your personal data, and to request that they are corrected in the event of inaccuracy or deleted in the event that they are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected and processed. In some cases, you have the right to ask for a restriction of processing or to object to processing. You also have the right to object.

You may exercise your rights by fulfilling a specific request form accessible on EBU dedicated Data Subject Rights online platform or send your requests at privacy@ebu.ch. If you consider that the processing of your personal data constitutes a violation of the data protection law(s), you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of the European Union of your usual place of residence, your place of work or the place where the violation occurred. In order to protect your privacy and the security of the data recorded on our website, we may ask you for additional information in order to check your identity before we answer your query.

European Union representative

We designated EBU UER AISBL, Avenue des Arts 56, 1000 Brussels, Belgium as our representative in the European Union. You can therefore also submit your requests to such representative.

Effective date and Changes

This Privacy Notice is effective from 11 May 2020. We reserve the right, at our complete discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Privacy Notice at any time.
