Trust in Public Service Media

This new report explores the degree of trust that European citizens put into public service media (PSM). You’ll be able to observe a ‘trust gap’ between public and private radio and television, with PSM being more trusted than their private counterparts. By contrast, most EU citizens distrust online platforms, with our report observing that strong PSM benefit their country's whole media system.

The report also explored the relationship between national democracies and citizens’ trust in PSM. Our findings highlight that high trust levels in public broadcasters are connected to higher satisfaction with national democracies.
